How long will it take my dog to eat a bully stick?

Short answer: It depends on the dog.  Some dogs are very powerful chewers, while others may be a bit more careful while chewing on something.

Our 6" bully sticks will take about 20-45 minutes to consume for a medium sized dog.

Our 12" bully sticks will take about 30-50 minutes to consume for a medium sized dog.

Our super thick 12" bully sticks will take about 45 minutes - 1 hour + for a large sized dog.

Are bully sticks good for puppies?

Puppies need to have an outlet for chewing!  A bully stick is the perfect first chew for a puppy. Bully sticks are tasty enough to keep a puppy's interest, easily digestible, durable enough to stand up to constant chewing, but soft enough that it won't fracture teeth, like bones and antlers do.  When giving a puppy a high value treat, like a bully stick, we recommend always having another tasty treat on hand, so that you can "trade" with your puppy if you need to take the bully stick away.  Getting in the habit of "trading" will prevent behavioral problems like resource guarding or gulping down food too quickly.

What is the average shelf-life of bully sticks?

Our bully sticks have very little moisture which makes them very tough to chew but also have a long shelf life! Our bully sticks have an average shelf life of about 18 months. To extend the life of the bully sticks you can put them in the freezer when your dog isn't chewing on them or in between chew sessions. Freezing the bully sticks will help them re-harden and will keep any insects away from the product.
